Einstein Playground Replacement Project

Our PTSA is trying to raise the money to replace the playground equipment at Einstein Elementary so that our kids have something safer, more fun, more colorful, more modern, and more engaging to play on at recess than what currently exists. The main playground equipment, which was installed when the school was built in 1998, is now obsolete. As parts wear out or break (which has already begin to happen) there is no way to get replacement parts or repair the equipment – the solution is to simply remove the broken or worn-out piece.

Did you Know?

  • There used to be a bridge but it deteriorated so it was removed and covered up by boards.   See picture here.
  • The play equipment screws loosen regularly and facilities staff has to tighten them often. See picture here
  • The equipment is rusting.  See picture here
  • This section of the playground gets so slick when it rains that the recess monitors regularly close it off.  One recess monitor called it a banana peel!  See picture here.
  • Facilities regularly marks the wood that has deteriorated so that it can be evaluated and replaced.  See picture here

Replacing the playground is a very expensive endeavor.

We know many of you have contributed generously to our school and we appreciate that generosity. However, the money we raise through our fall Pass the Hat and spring Fun Run fundraisers is what is necessary to keep the PTSA’s current programs up and running on a yearly basis and are insufficient to cover the cost of a new playground. For that reason, we need your help to raise $45,000 by the end of January to support a spring break installation.  We believe that as a community we can reach that goal. Can you help?

We've created a website specifically for this project. Check out to learn more about the project and ways you can donate.  Lets put the Play back in our Playground!  If you have any questions or want to help with fundraising please contact Christy Keating or Julie Lemery
